Firefighters extinguished a blaze that destroyed two selective waste collection containers in central La Seu d'Urgell on Monday night.
The Generalitat Fire Service responded to the incident, which was reported just before midnight at 23:33, according to local outlet Ràdio Seu. The fire started in a rubbish container on Carrer de Sant Joan Baptista de la Salle, directly against the facade of Col·legi La Salle. Flames spread quickly, completely consuming the first container and rendering the adjacent one unusable.
A crew from the La Seu d'Urgell fire station arrived promptly at the scene. Their intervention prevented the fire from spreading to nearby containers or parked vehicles. Upon arrival, they separated the remaining containers to halt any further propagation.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported, and the area was contained without wider damage.
