The Fundació Privada Maria Maestre has granted €900,000 to three education projects in Andorra, through collaboration agreements signed on Thursday at its headquarters in Ca l’Apotecari, Andorra la Vella.
The agreements, the foundation's first direct initiatives under its statutory aims, support efforts by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Col·legi Sant Ermengol, and the Institució Germanes de la Sagrada Família d’Urgell. Eduard Ibáñez, the foundation's president and personal representative of the episcopal co-prince, signed alongside Social Affairs Minister Trini Marín, Col·legi Sant Ermengol board member Joan Massa, and Meritxell Vidal of the Institució Germanes de la Sagrada Família d’Urgell.
The Ministry of Social Affairs receives the biggest allocation of €500,000 to fund operations at the Centre Residencial Educatiu Intensiu (CREI) for the 2026 budget year. Minister Marín thanked the foundation for the support, calling it a demonstration of solidarity to improve opportunities, wellbeing, and prospects for Andorra's adolescents and young people.
A further €200,000 will finance renovations to educational spaces at Col·legi Mare Janer in Santa Coloma, run by the Institució Germanes de la Sagrada Família d’Urgell. Another €200,000 targets repairs and upgrades to the playground at Col·legi Sant Ermengol.
Created in 2019 by the Bisbat d’Urgell and listed in the Andorran government's foundations registry, the Fundació Maria Maestre promotes public-interest activities in education and culture, in keeping with Catholic principles.
