Customs and police officers seized 5,130 packs of tobacco and 8.5 kilograms of shredded tobacco (picadura) in Pas de la Casa, a haul valued at more than €20,570. Two French-registered vehicles found at the scene were impounded.
The operation began Sunday night when customs agents on surveillance patrol spotted two cars parked in the town that were loaded with bags of tobacco. After confirming the quantity, customs alerted the police, who requisitioned the vehicles and confiscated all the merchandise.
Authorities said the seizure is part of ongoing coordinated efforts between Customs and the Police to combat tobacco smuggling. Officials underlined that close cooperation between the two services is essential to detect and disrupt this illegal trade and noted the action adds to similar interventions carried out in recent weeks.
