The Seu d'Urgell town council's Youth and Childhood Department, led by councillor Christina Moreno, has launched four new projects aimed at enhancing the emotional, social, and community wellbeing of young people aged 12-29 and their families.
Announced on Wednesday, the initiatives will begin operating this month from the newly opened Espai Jove l’Escorxador, the municipal hub for youth in the town. Services will provide both one-off and ongoing support, with all attention described as confidential, approachable, and free.
The flagship Espai Jove l’Escorxador targets 12- to 29-year-olds, positioning it as the primary municipal space for young people. Moreno emphasised its role in fostering ownership: she wants youth to feel the space is theirs while expanding activities across the town to encourage broader participation and a sense of belonging to the community.
Complementing this, the Punt de Connexió offers guidance and support for families of teenagers. Moreno highlighted its focus on strengthening family environments, where parents can voice concerns, doubts, or worries about their adolescents.
The Parlem? service provides listening and emotional support specifically for 14- to 29-year-olds. Moreno called it a long-awaited resource—a friendly, safe, and preventive space where young people can comfortably share preoccupations and feel validated.
Rounding out the package is Projecte Pangea, tailored for newly arrived youth aged 12-15. It addresses emotions and local knowledge to ease their transition into a new setting.
Aida Clotet, head of the Youth Area, stressed the community focus: the Espai Jove will promote active participation and healthy leisure to build a shared sense of belonging. Psychologist Elisabet Peiró urged families and youth to engage, noting that the council will refine the resources based on feedback to maximise their effectiveness.
