The University of Andorra (UdA) is eyeing the former Andorra Telecom headquarters in Sant Julià de Lòria as a potential site to expand its facilities amid growing student numbers.
Rector Juli Minoves confirmed the building's suitability, noting it sits in Plaça de la Germandat. The campus has outgrown its current space, prompting recent additions like El Cub—a new structure on Avinguda Verge de Canòlich, near Plaça Laurèdia, built on the site of the old Cal Jaumet petrol station and Naturland offices.
Last month, construction began at Fàbrica Reig, awarded on 5 November to Pidasa Serveis for €5.8 million. The 18-month project focuses on interior partitions, new fittings, and an elevator to meet UdA requirements. It will reuse the existing structure, facades, and roof while upgrading waterproofing and energy efficiency.
Set to open for the 2027-28 academic year, the renovated site will house classrooms, a 292-square-metre multi-purpose auditorium on the third floor, administrative offices including the rectorate, and student areas for meetings and collaborative work.
The ground floor of the former Andorra Telecom building currently hosts Espai Jove Lauredià, the local youth space.
In parallel, the UdA is advancing student housing plans to support internationalisation, given high local housing costs. Sant Julià de Lòria council is finalising administrative steps for an international tender to convert the Hotel Pol into a university residence. It will feature coliving spaces and affordable units under administrative concession.
