Brigitte Macron to Skip Emmanuel Macron's Andorra Visit Due to Personal Reasons

Brigitte Macron will not join French President Emmanuel Macron on his official visit to Andorra on April 27 and 28, after citing unavoidable personal reasons, Andorran government sources have confirmed.

The French president's wife and Andorran co-prince's consort notified authorities this morning of her absence due to personal scheduling issues, resolving earlier uncertainties. Her participation had been tentatively noted in March, though without a fixed agenda, and officials had anticipated her possible inclusion alongside Macron's inner circle. Preparations through Thursday had considered a lighter parallel schedule for her, given Andorra's protocol does not grant her an official title. Instead, she would have followed select events separately from the president.

This marks Macron's second trip to the Principality since 2019, when Brigitte Macron also did not attend. Government sources previously acknowledged her potential presence would require "recoordinating and rethinking" the protocol, while stressing it would not bring major changes to the programme. She would have held a privileged spot in the delegation and been covered by the full security setup for the two co-princes in Andorra's bicphalic structure.

Her absence now eliminates those adjustments, easing logistical pressures and reducing the security footprint beyond standard measures for the co-princes and their unified prefecture. Authorities await final Élysée Palace confirmation but expect no further shifts before Macron's Monday afternoon arrival. The visit will proceed with its original institutional focus.
