Macron's Packed 24-Hour Visit to Andorra as Co-Prince Next Week

French President Emmanuel Macron, Andorra's co-prince, will undertake a packed 24-hour official visit to the Principat next week, marking his second trip since September 2019. Accompanied by his wife Brigitte, he arrives by helicopter at the Estadi Comunal early afternoon on Monday, 27 May.

That day, Macron heads to FEDA's headquarters before proceeding to Ràdio Andorra in Encamp. There, he will receive credentials from ambassadors who have yet to present them, joined by Episcopal Co-prince Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat. In the evening, he hosts a dinner for authorities and civil society representatives—including a significant youth delegation—at the Andorra Park Hotel, where the couple will spend the night.

Tuesday, 28 May, begins with visits to two educational centres: Lycée Comte de Foix and the Andorrana School of Secondary Education in Santa Coloma. Both institutions have notified families of welcome events between 8.30 and 10.30. At the Santa Coloma school, primary pupils from first, second, and third cycles will sing the national anthem in the central courtyard, followed by a tour of facilities. Vehicle access to Carrer de la Plana and Carrer Prat Salit will close from 8.30 to 10.30, with pedestrian entry restricted 8.45-9.00; school buses remain permitted.

The Lycée, which has hosted previous French co-princes, suspends classes for collège, professional lycée, and general/technological sections during the period. A community representation—including class delegates and boarders—will join Macron in the assembly hall.

The agenda then shifts to Casa de la Vall for a Consell General session. Macron walks from Plaça Príncep Benlloch, greeted outside by Serrano Pentinat and the Sometent. Inside, he signs the Honour Book amid a historic gathering: both co-princes seated together for the first time. Outdoor flag honours and the national anthem follow.

At 12.45, Macron delivers a 20-minute public address in Plaça del Poble. He then attends a lunch hosted by the head of government at the former Hotel Rosaleda in Encamp, with a brief media availability before or after. The visit concludes at Meritxell's sanctuary with the solemn presentation of the Seven-Arms Cross to both co-princes. Macron departs by helicopter from El Tarter.
