Mariona Cadena, Secretary of State for Equality and Citizen Participation, chaired the 19th meeting of the National Commission for the Prevention of Gender-Based and Domestic Violence (CONVPVGD) on Thursday. The session brought together representatives from government departments, the Police Corps, the Administration of Justice, and the Public Prosecutor's Office to review ongoing efforts and outline future priorities in prevention and equality.
Cadena announced the launch of a national survey, led by the Observatory for Equality, to assess the current situation of women in Andorra. Preliminary results are expected this autumn, providing both quantitative and qualitative data to shape public policies tailored to women's realities in the Principat.
Participants also received updates on the implementation of Law 6/2022, passed on 31 March, which promotes effective equality of treatment and opportunities and prevents discrimination between women and men. Cadena noted that regulatory rollout is nearly complete, with only ongoing actions remaining due to their continuous nature.
The meeting featured the presentation of a recently government-approved protocol for preventing, detecting, and responding to gender-based and domestic violence against elderly users of soci-health services. Officials also outlined the new law on equal birth leave.
Attendees reviewed the previous year's activities of the Service for Attention to Victims of Gender-Based Violence (SAVVG) and set a calendar for upcoming commission initiatives.
Other participants included Secretary of State for Social Affairs Ester Cervós, Secretary of State for Health Cristina Pérez, Secretary of State for Justice and Interior Joan Antoni Leon, and Secretary of State for Youth and Sports Alain Cabanes.
