Andorra Endavant Demands Public Spending Review After La Querola Fire

Andorra Endavant has renewed its call for a comprehensive review of public spending priorities in the wake of the La Querola fire, demanding more resources for essential services including firefighters, healthcare and security.

The parliamentary group wants public structures, agencies and entities scrutinised to identify duplications, ensure appropriate sizing and optimise resources—potentially by reallocating staff to priority areas. It argues that Andorra's limited means require directing funds and personnel to "real needs".

The push follows the group's recent oral question in the General Council, where leader Carine Montaner asked if Andorra was equipped to handle major forest fires, citing summer incidents in neighbouring countries. Interior Minister Ester Molné replied that the country is fully prepared, noting 20 firefighters, three fire engines and aerial resources available. She added that no water shortages have hindered past extinguishals, with emergency supplies in place, and highlighted cross-border agreements with Catalonia's Generalitat and France for direct support.

Molné also said the government is developing a special forest fire plan and broader analysis and mobilisation efforts set for 2027.

Andorra Endavant says the La Querola blaze underscores ongoing concerns about the nation's emergency response capacity and resource distribution. No further government response to the latest demands has been reported.
