Andorra Delegation Attends PACE Session on AI, Russia, and Ukraine

Andorra's parliamentary delegation is attending the autumn plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg from September 28 to October 2.

The group, led by Berna Coma and comprising Meritxell Alcobé, Cerni Escalé, and Susanna Vela from the General Council, will take part in debates on multiple topics. These encompass the OECD's role in evaluating artificial intelligence's impact on employment prospects. Discussions will also cover enforcement of European Court of Human Rights rulings against Russia, including compensation payments, and risks facing the International Criminal Court.

Further items include European policies for veterans and assistance for Ukrainian soldiers disabled in the conflict. Lawmakers will tackle rising threats to media pluralism and press independence, alongside policy recommendations to foster family-oriented measures and demographic renewal. The session will additionally review Greece's compliance with its obligations as a Council of Europe member.

The event opens on Monday with the presentation of the 14th Václav Havel Human Rights Prize, recognising human rights advocates in Europe and elsewhere. The award will go to one of three finalists selected this year.

The participation allows Andorran delegates to engage in broader Council of Europe discussions on key international matters.
