Andorra's parliamentary delegation has arrived in Strasbourg for the autumn plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), running from September 28 to October 2.
The group, made up of Berna Coma, Meritxell Alcobé, Cerni Escalé, and Susanna Vela from the General Council, is participating in debates on key issues including artificial intelligence, Ukraine, and press freedom.
Among the topics are the OECD's assessment of AI's effects on jobs, enforcement of European Court of Human Rights decisions against Russia—such as compensation claims—and threats to the International Criminal Court. Lawmakers will also address support for Ukrainian veterans and soldiers disabled in the conflict, alongside challenges to media pluralism and independence.
The agenda further covers family-focused policies to promote demographic renewal and an evaluation of Greece's fulfilment of Council of Europe commitments.
The session begins today with the awarding of the 14th Václav Havel Human Rights Prize to one of three finalists honouring advocates across Europe and beyond.
This participation enables Andorran representatives to contribute to vital Council of Europe deliberations on global concerns.
