Andorra's head of government, Xavier Espot, co-chaired the 10th Andorra-Occitania Cross-Border Dialogue on Friday, October 9, alongside Fabrice Rigoulet-Roze, prefect of the Occitania region.

The gathering in Andorra united institutional delegates from the Principality, the French state, Occitania, and the departments of Ariège and Pyrénées-Orientales. Marking the mechanism's 10th anniversary, the forum has evolved over the past decade into a steady channel for institutional dialogue, coordination, and joint action between Andorra and adjacent French areas.

Attendees reviewed key advances from the last 10 years and identified fresh cooperation opportunities in shared domains. Discussions addressed mobility and cross-border links, security measures, police and customs collaboration, and joint efforts against illegal tobacco trade. They also examined road access management between Andorra and France, alongside economic, energy, healthcare, agricultural, and cultural initiatives.

The session assessed progress on projects stemming from Andorra-France cooperation agreements, many of which have bolstered security, connectivity, and growth in Pyrenean territories. A specific working group tackled sectoral ties in health, economy, agriculture and livestock, culture, and heritage.

The event wrapped up with a ceremony honouring a decade of the dialogue, which has proven essential in fostering neighbourly ties, advancing mutual projects, and tackling common border challenges in a coordinated way.
