The group joined the opening on Monday, 26 January. Discussions centre on the integrity of the European Convention on Human Rights system, alongside respect for international law in Gaza and the West Bank after the ceasefire, and the anniversary of the European Social Charter.

The assembly is also set to approve an opinion on a new protocol to the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine, concerning involuntary detention and treatment for those receiving mental health care.

Additional agenda items include debates on pursuing a global, just and lasting peace in Ukraine alongside European continental security; bans on conversion practices; and bolstering democracies via youth engagement and inclusive, participatory education.

The session features a ceremony marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the end of the current PACE president's term, and the election of a new president.
