Andorra Expects All Residents Back from Middle East Conflict by Weekend
Foreign Affairs Minister Imma Tor states all 31 consular cases under management will resolve by week's end, with 21 already returned or en route.
Key Points
- 31 consular cases linked to Middle East conflict; 21 returned or en route.
- 8 have flights this week; 2 pending airline solutions.
- Coordination with airlines, Spain, France aids progress.
- 2 residents staying voluntarily; ministry monitoring escalation.
Foreign Affairs Minister Imma Tor expressed confidence that all Andorran residents wishing to return from the Middle East conflict zone will be back in the Principat by the end of the week.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry is handling 31 consular cases linked to the conflict, which began 11 days ago and led to airspace closures in countries including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Of these, 21 individuals—both nationals and residents—have already returned to Andorra or are en route, including six who departed over the weekend. Eight more have confirmed flights scheduled for this week, while two remain pending airline solutions amid ongoing disruptions.
Tor credited the progress to close coordination with airlines resuming operations as airspace gradually reopens, as well as assistance from Spanish and French consular services, which helped vulnerable cases. "We expect that by the weekend, all those who want to return will have done so," she said, noting that the two pending cases face various difficulties but are receiving active support.
Two other residents have chosen to stay in the region and are reported safe, closely following official alerts amid the escalation. The ministry continues monitoring the situation, given the conflict's upward trajectory.
The latest intensification occurred Tuesday with US and Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets—described by Pentagon sources as the most intense since the offensive started. Iran countered with missiles and drones against Israel and other sites, prolonging flight restrictions.
