Andorra's head of government, Xavier Espot, met the newly appointed US ambassador to Andorra, Benjamín León Jr., on Friday in Andorra la Vella as part of events for the 33rd anniversary of the Constitution.

The two officials reviewed bilateral cooperation and expressed determination to keep working together on education and technology. Ongoing programs include Fulbright scholarships for Andorran students in the US and professional stays by American professors in the Principat. No new initiatives or agreements were announced.

Earlier that morning, León Jr.—who also serves as ambassador to Spain—paid his first official visit to the Casa de la Vall. He was welcomed in the square by Síndic General Carles Ensenyat and Subsíndica General Sandra Codina. The ambassador showed keen interest in Andorra's history and its longstanding parliamentary traditions. Following protocol for an initial visit, he signed the Consell General's Golden Book and took part in a brief institutional meeting with the síndics to reinforce diplomatic ties. US Minister Counselor Rian Harris and Consul General to Barcelona Lia Miller joined the occasion.

León Jr. is due back on Saturday for the traditional Consell General session marking Constitution Day, followed by an official reception. Around 50 representatives from the diplomatic corps accredited in Andorra are expected to attend the commemorations.

The visits underscore the strong diplomatic relationship between Andorra and the United States.
