Encamp PS Councillor Questions Housing Progress in Council Session

Marta Pujol, a Partit Socialdemòcrata (PS) councillor in Encamp, has tabled a written question for the 26 March Consell de Comú session, pressing Cònsol Major Laura Mas for details on steps to improve housing access in the parish.

The query targets the Avancem-led council's progress on electoral promises, such as partnering with the Andorran government on zone-based price indicators, introducing support measures to enhance affordability, and advancing public or public-private affordable rental initiatives. With several housing projects now under construction across Encamp, Pujol asks if the council has pursued deals with developers to allocate portions of these units for low-cost rentals.

She further seeks information on forthcoming public or public-private schemes, particularly with rental contract extensions due to end next year, which could strain the local market. From the opposition benches, Pujol aims to scrutinise the majority's efforts, press for fulfilment of commitments, and push for increased openness and institutional engagement to secure decent housing for residents.

Pujol emphasised that while PS policies cannot be implemented directly, the opposition's role involves monitoring the government, ensuring accountability, and urging the council to address community priorities.
