France's Direction du renseignement et de la sécurité de la défense has awarded its National Defence Medal to four members of the Andorran Police Corps for their work in national security cooperation.
The recipients are Antoni Rodríguez, deputy director of the corps; inspector Joan Carles Seco; and two senior agents from the investigation unit. The ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon at the French embassy in Andorra la Vella.
The police corps described the award as highlighting the strong ties between Andorra and France, along with the professionalism, rigour and commitment of its officers. It is the first time this French military institution has given the honour to Andorran police personnel, a milestone that strengthens international security partnerships.
In recent weeks, three other Andorran police commanders received awards from Catalonia's Mossos d'Esquadra during Day of the Squads events. Senior inspectors Josep Lluís Martínez and Josep Albert Rivero earned the bronze medal with blue distinction for police merit at La Seu d'Urgell, in recognition of their joint criminal investigations and operational coordination.
Sergeant Major Sergi Medina, head of the Scientific Police, received the same medal in Barcelona for his career achievements and institutional collaboration with the Mossos. The corps views these distinctions as evidence of ongoing joint efforts and international coordination in policing and criminal investigations.
