Miquel (Michel) Naudí Clop, a hotelier and former General Councillor from Canillo, has died at his home in Soldeu at the age of 77. He had been diagnosed with an aggressive illness just months earlier.

Born in 1948 in Cal Marsal de Peretol to parents Marcel and Rosa, Naudí married in 1974 and had one son, Marc, who now manages the Hotel Naudí in Soldeu. Originally from the primary sector as a farmer and livestock breeder, he represented Canillo in the Andorran Landowners' Association (APTA) and later helped build the hotel into a key local business.

His political career began young. At 30, he served as Canillo's conseller menor for 1978-1979 under conseller major Pere Rossa, becoming the longest-serving former holder of that role still alive at the time of his death. He then acted as conseller del comú from 1980 to 1983.

Naudí entered national politics on December 10, 1981, when he was elected General Councillor for Canillo alongside Josep Casal i Puigcernal (later replaced by Pere Font i Vergés), Jordi Font i Cabanes, and Xavier Escrivà i Torres. Affiliated with the Democrats group, he served until February 8, 1983—a period marked by tensions after the creation of Andorra's first Executive Council under Òscar Ribas, which assumed executive functions previously held by the General Council.

Decades later, he returned to local politics on the Democrats slate led by Josep Mandicó and David Palmitjavila—the only list in the 2015 Canillo communal elections. From 2016 to 2019, he served as conseller comunal, chairing the agriculture commission and campaigning for upgrades to Soldeu's ski slope base stations.

Tributes have poured in. APTA president Josep Duró described him as "a very sensitive and affable man, with Andorran identity and a defender of land as a tool to advance the country. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with him." Canillo's conseller major, Jordi Alcobé, called his passing "a great loss for Canillo of an affable and beloved man who had worked and continued to work for the good of the parish."

A wake continues at Tanatori Mereig in Soldeu, with sessions from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, January 11, and 10am to 1pm on Monday, January 12. The funeral mass is scheduled for 3:30pm on Monday at Sant Bartomeu church in Soldeu, where family will receive condolences.
