Monsignor Piero Pioppo, the newly appointed apostolic nuncio to Andorra and Spain, made his first public appearance in the Principality on Constitution Day, arriving calmly at Plaça del Consell General.
There, he informally greeted ministers as they arrived for the parliamentary celebrations. Pioppo also met with General Syndic Carles Ensenyat, telling him informally, "We hope to be here for many years."
The nuncio praised the youth of most government cabinet members. Earlier, he had joined a reception hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the diplomatic corps accredited in Andorra.
Pioppo made clear he would not deliver any public statements. Even so, he appeared warm and approachable with the institutional figures he encountered, many of whom noticed his presence for the first time.
