FC Andorra Crush Cultural Leonesa 4-0 to Extend Relegation Buffer to Nine Points

Lautaro, Domènech, Nieto and Yeray score in dominant win, with Owono's saves securing clean sheet against winless hosts mired eight points from safety.

Key Points

  • FC Andorra defeated Cultural Leonesa 4-0, extending relegation buffer to nine points with 10 games left.
  • Goals by Lautaro (5'), Domènech (32'), Nieto (79'), Yeray (81'); Owono's saves secured clean sheet.
  • Andorra rose to 13th on 42 points; Leonesa winless in 14 games, eight points from safety.

FC Andorra secured a dominant 4-0 win over bottom side Cultural Leonesa at the Reino de León on Sunday, pushing their buffer above the Segunda División relegation zone to nine points with 10 matches left.

The victory lifted FC Andorra to 13th place on 42 points, leaving them equidistant from safety and the playoffs. It marked their third unbeaten outing in a row and their best points tally after 32 games in the category, surpassing 40 from their 2022-23 debut season. Lautaro opened the scoring in the 5th minute, capitalizing on Peru Rodríguez's error after Josep Cerdà's precise pass to fire past Edgar Badia. Marc Domènech made it 2-0 in the 32nd, finishing a slick move with Cerdà's backheel to Jastin.

Jesús Owono proved decisive in goal, denying Diego Collado in a one-on-one with a leg save, then stopping Lucas Ribeiro's questionable penalty following Carrique's challenge on the Brazilian. He added a late denial on Víctor Moreno to earn a clean sheet in front of 8,920 fans. Cultural Leonesa, winless in league play since 7 December over 14 games and eight points from safety after Mirandés' draw, responded with halftime switches as Rubén de la Barrera brought on Fornós and Moreno but failed to score.

Manu Nieto netted the third in the 79th from Dani Villahermosa's interception, and Yeray wrapped it up two minutes later, racing clear on Imanol's recovery to blast beyond Badia. Pre-match previews had warned of the banana-skin threat from a desperate Leonesa, revitalized under De la Barrera despite their league-worst 29 goals scored and 50 conceded. Coach Carles Manso opted for fewer rotations than expected amid a packed schedule, starting Martí Vilà, Théo Le Normand and Jastin while missing internationals Yaako and Minsu, injured Édgar González and Álex Calvo, and Sergio Molina, who sat out with physical problems. Leonesa were without suspended Rodri Suárez.

Post-match, Manso tempered enthusiasm, warning that teams have gone down with 42 points in past seasons. No breather awaits: fourth-placed Málaga visits Nou Estadi de la FAF on Wednesday (19:00), followed by leaders Racing Santander on Sunday (16:15).

FC Andorra: Owono; Carrique, Gael Alonso, Alende, Martí Vilà (Imanol 72'); Domènech, Villahermosa (Akman 83'), Le Normand; Cerdà (Petxa 83'), Jastin (Nieto 60'), Lautaro (Yeray 72').

Cultural Leonesa: Badia; V. García (Sobrino 65'), Peru Rodríguez (Fornós 46'), Barzic, Hinojo; Calero, Radoja, Chacón (Moreno 46'), Al-Amin; Collado (Bicho 57'), Ribeiro (Justo 76').

Referee: Manuel Ángel Pérez Hernández. Yellows: Ribeiro, Fornós (Leonesa); Alende, Vilà (Andorra).
