Andorran runners Arnau Soldevila and Ricard Tenza competed for the Andorran Mountain Federation (FAM) at the Calamorro Skyrace in Benalmádena, Málaga—the second round of the Merrell Skyrunner World Series—finishing 26th and 34th respectively.
The 30km race featured 2,200 metres of positive elevation gain, including technical descents that tested the elite international field. Soldevila stayed with the lead group for much of the course but experienced a performance drop after two and a half hours, crossing the line in 3:24:13 or 3:26:13 according to reports. Tenza, making his World Series debut with the national team, managed ankle discomfort from the start, running cautiously—especially on downhills—and finishing in 3:36:07 amid significant pain.
Ahead of the 11 April event, previews had flagged the FAM duo's participation in the high-stakes challenge. Soldevila highlighted a positive trajectory, stating he enjoyed the race more this time but must address his late fade: "We're on a good path. I had a great time, but after 2h30 I started to lose pace and I'll have to improve for the next race." Tenza expressed confidence in better results ahead: "I'm convinced I can be much higher up; hopefully that's the case in the next one."
The performances signal Andorra's growing presence in skyrunning. The team now prepares for the Matheysins Skyrace in France on 3 May, where Samu Ponce will join Soldevila and Tenza.
