FC Andorra's Josep Cerdà Named LaLiga Hypermotion Player of the Month for April

FC Andorra forward Josep Cerdà, a 25-year-old from Mallorca, has been named LaLiga Hypermotion Player of the Month for April. The award marks the second time a Tricolors player has received it, following Sinan Bakis in the club's first season in Spain's second division.

Cerdà's standout form included five goals and one assist across five matches, driving an unbeaten streak of four wins and a draw under manager Carles Manso. His contributions secured mathematical survival with 55 points and five games left. He began the month with a brace in the 3-3 draw at Málaga, followed by a goal and assist in the 6-2 home victory over leaders Racing de Santander. He then scored the winner at Cádiz and added further strikes in wins against Valladolid and Leganés, including one in the 4-0 away triumph that confirmed permanency.

The Leganés goal elevated Cerdà to third on FC Andorra's all-time professional scorers list with nine league goals this season, matching Carlos Martínez. Ahead of him are Iván Gil with 10 and Sinan Bakis with 12. Achieving this in his professional debut season underscores his rapid rise since his league bow in a draw against Cultural Leonesa in Encamp.

Cerdà edged out competitors like Burgos' Fer Niño and Racing's Andrés Martín in the fan vote. He has emerged as a key figure in Manso's setup, often deployed as a false nine amid the team's strong run.

After the Leganés win—the third consecutive clean sheet—Manso urged caution despite the momentum from 11 solid outings. "We won't stray from our approach," he said. "There's excitement in the squad and club because our line over the last 11 games has been very strong, with high-quality football reflected in the scores and results." He added that with survival assured, missing the play-offs would not be a setback. "We need to stay grounded, keep recovering, and prepare for Albacete—this doesn't stop." Manso highlighted the defensive maturity shown.
