Marc Cardona Ends 535-Day Goal Drought to Secure FC Andorra Win Over Valladolid

Marc Cardona scored his first goal for FC Andorra on Sunday, ending a 535-day drought since his last strike and securing a vital win against Real Valladolid.

The Lleida-born forward had not netted since 30 October 2024, when he scored for UD Las Palmas in a Copa del Rey tie against Ontiñena. He joined FC Andorra on a free transfer in the winter window, arriving after a prolonged spell without regular minutes that initially hampered his match sharpness.

Cardona's goal against Valladolid delivered all three points for the hosts and boosted his confidence. Speaking afterward, he reflected on his adaptation: "When I arrived, I had been out for a long time and it took me a while to get up to speed. Now we're in a very good run—let's give it the credit it deserves, because things weren't this solid when I joined. We need to stay on this wave and aim to win every game, starting with Leganés."

The result forms part of FC Andorra's strong recent form, with the team unbeaten in survival terms six matches from the end of the Segunda División season. Sitting on 52 points, the squad now eyes 60—a club record in the professional era—to cap what has been their best campaign since promotion.

Coach Carles Manso outlined the target: "We're aware that in our debut Segunda season under Eder Sarabia, we hit 59 points and finished seventh. That's achievable now with realistic goals to avoid frustration. The team is at a high level; eight points from 18 feels within reach." He added that Andorra remain the top performers over the last 10 games alongside Eibar, both on 23 points, while stressing focus on the next fixture: "Six rounds left—beat Leganés first. We're Andorra; we set accessible objectives so a missed play-off doesn't sour the season."

Cardona echoed the ambition, urging the side not to relent despite the eight-point play-off gap.
