Andorra Honours Winter Olympians at Official Reception

Andorra la Vella's government hosted an official reception on Thursday for the Andorran athletes who competed at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, honouring their participation and achievements.

Head of Government Xavier Espot, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Mònica Bonell, and State Secretary for Youth and Sports Alain Cabanes attended the event. Espot congratulated the athletes, describing the Andorran delegation as an example of perseverance and talent. He emphasised that sport is not judged solely by outcomes but also by the ability to recover and push forward.

Bonell reaffirmed the executive's dedication to high-performance sport. She announced increased public funding this year for federations supporting elite athletes, including the Andorran Ski Federation, which will receive more than in previous years. The minister linked the decision to lessons from recent Winter and Summer Olympics, noting the need to address the financial demands of top-level competition through a dedicated funding category for such programmes.
