Andorran Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship Rebrands as Copa Andbank with Open Format

The Andorran Gymnastics Federation (FAG) will host the 37th Andorran Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship this Sunday at 10am in the Toni Martí pavilion in Andorra la Vella, rebranded as the inaugural Copa Andbank with an Open format. The event, backed by Andbank, expects 60 to 70 national gymnasts plus participants from France, including members of Andorra's national team preparing for the European Championships.

FAG president Anna Pallarès explained the move to a single-phase format from the previous three-phase system plus final, aimed at increasing the national event's visibility and supporting grassroots athletes alongside international competitors. "We give a lot of importance to outside competitions, but this one is too," she said, underscoring the need for precise scoring through a high-calibre international judging panel from Andorra, Catalonia, France, and Spain—including Brevet 1-level officials.

Technical director and national team selector Clàudia López noted that a preliminary round and final were not feasible due to pavilion availability but could return next year. She anticipates a successful outing, with motivated gymnasts backed by strong club preparation, and highlighted the Open format's potential to draw more foreign entrants in future editions. The competition also serves as a final tune-up before the European Championships, where senior Berta Miquel and juniors Ina Díaz and Eva Travé will represent Andorra.

Josep Maria Cabanes, Andbank's director of institutional banking, emphasised the bank's commitment to youth sports development and base-level training.

Entry costs three euros, with the changes designed to boost the championship's profile and showcase Andorran talent.
