Andorran Ski Federation Restructures Women's Alpine Team for World Cup Push

The Andorran Ski Federation (FAE) has restructured its women's alpine ski team for the coming season, uniting Cande Moreno, Jordina Caminal, Íria Medina, and Clàudia Garcia in a single technical group aimed at building a stronger presence in World Cup and European Cup competitions.

'Xoque' Bellsolà takes the role of head coach, with Ibon Mintegui as assistant coach and Mathis Cottet as ski technician. The setup targets downhill, super-G, and giant slalom, fostering a versatile team that draws on the athletes' combined skills. A physiotherapist will join in August to round out the support staff.

FAE alpine director Roger Vidosa highlighted the benefits of the mutual exchange, explaining that Medina and Garcia stand to gain from the speed experience of Moreno and Caminal, while the established skiers can also advance through collaboration with the younger members. This approach, he said, will help each athlete reach their specific goals across the World Cup and European Cup circuits, tailored to individual needs.

Bellsolà emphasized the long-term vision of forming a cohesive unit rather than isolated competitors. The four skiers, he noted, have reached a level of maturity to ensure broad and solid representation in these events over the next few years. "The goal is to build a joint bloc, not just individual racers," he said.

This reorganisation marks a shift from last season, designed to generate synergies and elevate the team's competitiveness on the international stage.
