Sprint Club Andorra-Escola Purito Signs Four-Year Andbank Sponsorship Deal

Sprint Club Andorra-Escola Purito has signed a four-year sponsorship agreement with Andbank, presented on Thursday alongside the school's new kit, to strengthen grassroots cycling in Andorra.

The deal will provide financial support for travel to away events, increased competition participation beyond the Principat, and overall stability for the school, which serves around 20 children across categories from prebenjamí to infantil. The club itself has 150 to 160 members and operates as both an introductory programme—focused on mountain biking—and a talent feeder for its competitive teams. Director Emili Pérez noted that the partnership ensures the school's continuity and club structure. "This sponsorship helps with travel abroad and enables more competitions to promote cycling," he said.

Pérez emphasised the practical benefits, explaining that the school feeds into the club once riders reach competing age. The initiative prioritises enjoyment over pressure for the youngest participants. Founder Joaquim "Purito" Rodríguez, a former professional cyclist resident in Andorra, stressed this philosophy. "The aim is for the kids to enjoy themselves, have an outlet, and practise the sport they like most. Mountain biking is the most suitable and safe option for their age," he said.

Rodríguez described the project as a personal effort to repay the unpaid volunteers who supported him early on. "It's about giving back what those people gave me—working so young cyclists could travel, train, and enjoy the sport."

Andbank's institutional banking director, Josep Maria Cabanes, attended the event and highlighted the bank's commitment to Andorran grassroots sports. The agreement builds on a decade-long collaboration between Rodríguez and Sprint Club, amid rising interest in the discipline.
