Andorra's swimming federation has named Biel Cuen, Kevin Teixeira, and Patrick Pelegrina to compete at the European Championships in Paris from August 10 to 16.
The trio will contest nine events in the 50-metre pool. Pelegrina will swim the 50m and 100m breaststroke. Teixeira is scheduled for the 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle. Cuen faces the heaviest workload with the 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle plus the 400m individual medley.
The championships open on Monday, August 10, with Pelegrina in the 100m breaststroke and Cuen in the 400m individual medley. On Tuesday, Cuen and Teixeira race the 800m freestyle. The pair meet again in the 200m freestyle on Thursday, August 13. Pelegrina returns on Friday for the 50m breaststroke, and Cuen and Teixeira close Andorra's campaign in the 400m freestyle on Sunday, August 16.
Federation president Joan Clotet described the swimmers as well-prepared for one of the season's toughest competitions. He highlighted the blend of Pelegrina's and Teixeira's international experience—Pelegrina's ninth major meet including three Europeans, two Worlds, Mediterranean Games, and two Small States Games; Teixeira's seventh senior outing—with Cuen's rising form ahead of his second European appearance.
The athletes trained at the Paris Olympic pool and underwent a biomechanical analysis at the University of Granada to refine technique and boost performance. The federation plans to continue such work next season.
Team leader and coach Alfonso Maltrana called the event the season's key target, with personal bests the priority. The selection was presented midday Thursday at Andbank headquarters.
