Andorran Skier Gina del Rio Targets World Cup Top 30 and U23 Jersey

Andorran cross-country skier Gina del Rio aims to solidify her position in the World Cup top 30 during the upcoming season, while pursuing the under-23 leader's jersey in her final eligible year.

The 23-year-old recently completed training in Font-Romeu, France, and has now entered a lower-intensity phase to recover before a demanding race schedule. Del Rio described her targets as realistic, with an emphasis on reliable results in both sprint and distance disciplines to maintain her polivalency.

She confirmed steady progress from last season. "We were on the right track in sprint and distance," del Rio said, adding that her primary benchmark remains establishing herself among the top 30 overall. The athlete, who wore the green U23 jersey last year, sees the classification as a significant priority. "It continues to be quite important," she noted, expressing intent to challenge for a podium and surpass her previous performance.

Del Rio plans to race as many World Cup events as possible to sharpen her versatility ahead of the World Championships in Falun, Sweden. She prefers a race-by-race mindset over rigid targets. "I'd like to take part in the events and perform at a good level," she said. Success across the circuit would naturally position her for the U23 ranking, she added.
