Andorran canoeists Mònica Doria and Nil Checa are competing in the opening round of the canoe World Cup at the Vaires-sur-Marne course near Paris. The event begins today with Doria aiming for another podium after her recent silver medal at the World Championships in Oklahoma.

Doria enters the competition in strong form, positioning her among the top contenders. She expressed confidence ahead of her K1 kayak heats, scheduled from 14:57 local time, with the final set for 17:15 if she qualifies among the leading 12. "I’m eager to start after the Worlds and give it my all—we have goals and expectations, and we’ll see if we can secure another podium," she said.

Earlier in the day, at 12:47, Nil Checa will take on the same course in his debut there. The final, should he advance, is planned for 16:36. Checa described the venue, which hosted the recent Olympics and has undergone modifications, as "very nice." He is excited to participate and emphasized gaining experience. "I hope to have good sensations in my runs and, above all, observe how the world’s best perform—that’s one of the main reasons we’re here: to learn from the professionals," he noted. Checa aims to build on this outing to keep progressing.
