ACA Relaunches Youth Driver Training in 2026 with 4-6 Pilots
Automòbil Club d’Andorra announces revival of youth motorsport program integrated with expanded CAAM championship, plus eSports growth and new revenue.
Key Points
- Youth driver program relaunches 2026 with 4-6 pilots training in CAAM (5 rounds).
- Selection ongoing; first-year skills focus, mid-season Rally d’Andorra assessment.
- eSports: 27 pilots, virtual CAAM series, 4-week summer campus, international in 2027.
- New revenue from FIA consultancy; Rally prioritizes modern vehicles.
The Automòbil Club d’Andorra (ACA) will relaunch its youth driver training programme in 2026, featuring between four and six selected pilots, ACA secretary general Toti Sasplugas announced during the club’s ordinary general assembly.
Sasplugas explained that the programme’s core training will take place within the Andorran Mountain Automobile Championship (CAAM), which this year includes five rounds instead of the usual four, with the Arinsal event held twice. This structure, he noted, makes local development more accessible than competing abroad. “The learning curve in motorsport is much slower without proper support, unlike other sports,” Sasplugas said.
Pilots are still being selected, and no names have been released. The initiative aims to equip participants with essential skills in their first year. Mid-season, organisers will assess extending the programme to the Rally d’Andorra, which Sasplugas described as a promising option.
For the Rally d’Andorra itself, modern vehicles will take priority, aligning with FIA promotion cups, though classics remain included. The CAAM regulations have also been updated.
In eSports, the ACA’s pioneering digital programme—now with 27 pilots—will continue its virtual CAAM series and expand its summer campus to four weeks. Plans for 2027 include making it international to attract participants from beyond Andorra.
Sasplugas also highlighted new revenue streams, such as FIA-backed consultancy for three other clubs.
