FC Andorra Crushes Leganés 4-0, Clinches Segunda División Survival with Four Straight Wins

FC Andorra secured a convincing 0-4 victory over Leganés on Sunday, marking their first four consecutive wins in professional football and mathematically confirming survival in Spain's Segunda División. The result lifted the Tricolors to ninth place with 55 points, just six behind the play-off spots with five matches remaining.

Marc Cardona opened the scoring in the 44th minute, finishing a precise pass from Dani Villahermosa after earlier chances, including a long-range effort from Diego Alende saved by home keeper Soriano. Leganés created threats on the counter, with Owono denying clear opportunities from Duk, Millán and others, but Andorra led at the break.

The second half saw Alende double the lead in the 53rd minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the area, followed by Josep Cerdà's tap-in on 63 minutes from a rebound off a Manu Nieto shot. Théo Le Normand sealed the scoreline in the 80th minute, capitalizing on a through ball. Owono's key saves preserved the clean sheet despite late Leganés pressure, including a post hit by Roberto López. Attendance at Estadi Municipal de Butarque reached 9,877.

Coach Carles Manso praised the team's momentum but urged realism. "We are in our best moment and must enjoy it, but we continue with realistic objectives," he said, dedicating the win to staff member Carles Riba. Majority shareholder Gerard Piqué visited the dressing room post-match, expressing pride in the squad's representation of Andorra.

The club now hosts Albacete on Friday at 16:15 in Encamp, followed by Las Palmas on May 10, aiming to extend a run of 16 points from 18 and 19 goals in six games. Cerdà, named April's MVP, leads with nine goals.

Earlier Tuesday, Andorra la Vella consuls major Sergi González and minor Olalla Losada toured FC Andorra's facilities at Estadi Comunal Joan Samarra. They watched first-team training, met players, staff and Piqué, and discussed the season and future plans in a relaxed setting. The visit underscored ties between the capital's council and the club, which trains at the parish stadium. Both highlighted ongoing collaborations, including the renovated Gim Jove gym linked to El Rusc youth group, promoting sport and wellbeing for local youngsters.
