Andorra's artistic swimming team wrapped up a landmark 2025 with two medals at the European Small States Games, held in the Principality in May—the discipline's debut at both the event and nationally.
The Andorran Swimming Federation (FAN) described the year as historic, citing the medals and the team's participation in the junior European Championships as key boosts to the sport's international profile and local development. Technical director Natàlia Meca noted that the team is closing "a very important year... that has been historic," adding that 2026 offers a critical opportunity "to keep growing and consolidating our position in the country." She highlighted the first male qualification in a competition as evidence of the discipline's momentum and effective planning.
The season ended with a training camp at the Ordino Sports Centre (CEO) over the Christmas holidays. Coaches Estel Ferreras and Berta Ferreras praised the athletes' dedication and progress throughout the year, particularly ahead of the Games. Berta Ferreras described the period as essential for developing new routines, blending creative elements with physical conditioning to meet the routines' intensity. School holidays allow intensive sessions that address all technical components in depth.
The team is now reviewing the season to identify areas for improvement while building on its strengths. Coaches aim to set progressive 2026 targets, seeking to further embed artistic swimming in Andorra's sports framework and surpass this year's achievements.
The Games returned after 20 years, delivering strong organization with more than 800 volunteers and a national record of 38 medals across ten sports, despite some minor mobility challenges. Standouts included Kevin Teixeira with three golds and a bronze, and Nahuel Carabaña with three golds.
