Andorra's men's alpine ski team kicked off its season strongly at an FIS slalom in Ruka, Finland, with Àlvar Calvo securing second place and improving his FIS points.
Calvo clocked a combined time of 1:24.33 across the two runs, finishing just 0.17 seconds behind the winner, Finland's Altti Pyrro, who posted 1:24.16. Another Finnish skier, Eero Saravuo, took third at +1.30.
The Andorran team impressed overall, with Pirmin Estruga in fifth (+1.60), Marc Fernández seventh (+2.93), and Maià Font 11th (+4.70).
Calvo lowered his FIS points from 41.01 to 37.94, while Font also edged ahead slightly to 77.24 from 79.91.
The team returns to the Ruka slopes tomorrow for a second FIS slalom.
