Andorra's alpine ski team completed its double-header FIS slaloms in Ruka, Finland, with Pirmin Estruga taking fourth place in the second race on Saturday, after Àlvar Calvo's silver medal the day before.
In the second slalom, Estruga posted a combined time of 1:26.77, finishing 1.70 seconds behind winner Urho Rechardt of Finland. He recorded the seventh-fastest time in the first run before climbing to fourth in the second. The rest of the Andorran team struggled: Maià Font and Marc Fernández, who were 13th and 14th after the first run, failed to complete the second, while Àlvar Calvo did not finish his opening run.
The previous day, Calvo had starred with second place in the season-opening slalom, clocking 1:24.33—just 0.17 seconds off Finland's Altti Pyrro, who won in 1:24.16. Eero Saravuo of Finland took third at +1.30. The team performed strongly overall, with Estruga fifth (+1.60), Fernández seventh (+2.93) and Font 11th (+4.70).
Calvo improved his FIS points from 41.01 to 37.94, while Font edged from 79.91 to 77.24.
