Andorran Karate Athlete Silvio Moreira Kicks Off 2026 Season in Spain

Andorran karate athlete Silvio Moreira will kick off his 2026 competitive season this weekend at the opening round of the RFEK cadet-senior league in Valdepeñas, Spain.

The event, which marks the official start of the Spanish national karate calendar, gets underway on Saturday at 9:45am with the senior kata category. It brings together top competitors from across Spain, serving as the first major test of the year despite the season having begun last September.

Moreira, representing Andorra in senior kata, heads into the competition with strong motivation after maintaining consistent training through the winter break. The Andorran Karate Federation confirmed his participation in a statement.

Speaking ahead of his departure, Moreira expressed enthusiasm for the challenge. He noted that while this is the first championship of 2026, his preparation has remained steady since the season's September start. "I'm going to Valdepeñas for the first round of the Spanish League this year with a lot of excitement and anticipation," he said.

The athlete emphasised his commitment to performing at his best. "I've kept training with plenty of drive and hope to advance as many rounds as possible while carrying the Andorran flag as high as I can," Moreira added. He aims to gain positive momentum from the outset and give his all, as always.
