Andorran ski mountaineers from the Federació Andorrana de Muntanyisme (FAM) competed in the Vertical race at the Courchevel World Cup on Friday evening, with Lea Ancion leading the team in 47th place in the women's category.

Ancion clocked a time of 30 minutes and 18 seconds in the short but intense nighttime event, maintaining a steady pace. She passed the first intermediate checkpoint in 18:12, holding her position through the finish among a large field of competitors.

In the men's race, which drew 86 senior athletes, Oriol Olm finished best for Andorra in 52nd place with 24:07. He gained ground after the first split, where he was 55th in 14:17. Marc Casanovas followed in 55th at 24:19, improving from 57th at the intermediate point, while Max Palmitjavila, in his senior debut, placed 57th in 24:27 after starting 62nd.

Olm trailed the winner by around four minutes, and Ancion by nearly seven, in the high-paced uphill challenge that followed Thursday's sprint event. The outing provided valuable international experience at a top-tier competition.

The Andorran team of Ancion, Olm, Casanovas, and Palmitjavila will next represent FAM at the Comapedrosa Andorra World Cup stop, featuring the Vertical race next Sunday and sprints the following day.
