  • Moreno clocked 55.10, 0.49s behind winner Sara Allemand; first top-5 and 45 points earned.
  • Competed sore from Tarvisio World Cup DNF, where she had 18th-fastest first split.

  • Builds on prior top-10s ahead of Olympics and Soldeu Worlds.

Andorran skier Cande Moreno delivered her career-best result in the Europa Cup with a fifth-place finish in the super-G at St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria, just one day after crashing out of a World Cup race in Tarvisio, Italy.

Competing on Monday despite soreness from her Sunday fall, Moreno clocked 55.10, trailing winner Sara Allemand of Italy (54.61) by 0.49 seconds. The podium went to Norway's Marte Monsen (second, +0.27) and Austria's Lena Wechner (third, +0.35), with local skier Emily Schoepf taking fourth just 0.01 ahead of Moreno. The performance marks Moreno's first top-five in the continental circuit and her fifth top-10 overall, including a prior sixth in Kitzbühel in March 2025. She earned 45 Europa Cup points, building on four from Pass Thurn earlier this month.

"I woke up a bit sore everywhere from the Tarvisio crash, but it was more stiffness than injury," Moreno said. "I had no expectations and no pressure—just went 100% mentally, knowing physically I wasn't fully there. It turned out great."

Teammate Jordina Caminal finished 42nd in 56.55, 1.94 behind Allemand and 0.36 off the points zone, as she rebuilds confidence following her own fall at Pass Thurn on 14 January.

The Tarvisio World Cup super-G had mixed fortunes for the pair. Moreno, bib 35, posted the 18th-fastest first split (-0.08) before losing balance, falling sideways, and losing a ski in the second sector. She walked to the finish unaided, cleared medically with no injuries, but recorded a DNF. Caminal, bib 54, completed the course in 1:18.43 for 49th or 50th place (sources vary), 4.39 behind winner Emma Aicher (1:14.04). Vonn took second (+0.27), Ledecka third (+0.94).

The Andorran speed team now eyes another super-G in St. Anton on Tuesday. Upcoming World Cup races are set for Crans-Montana, Switzerland (28-31 January), ahead of the Olympics and Soldeu events (25 February-1 March).
