Arinsal will host the first Road Race & Baggers event from May 1 to 3, a new motorcycle gathering designed to energize the village during the off-season and strengthen its appeal for mountain and outdoor sports.
Organized by the Andorran Motorcycle Federation (FAM), the event launches the Andorran Road Race Championship as a regularity race on the Arinsal climb. Participants will tackle three ascents: one for reconnaissance followed by two competitive runs, emphasizing safety for riders and onlookers.
The program features a showcase of Bagger motorcycles—touring models with side panniers adapted for racing. These bikes will take part in a public display, letting spectators view them up close, before joining the competition. Rider and sports advisor Ruben Xaus highlighted their versatility for both long-distance travel and track performance.
Michel Moliné, FAM secretary, stressed that the race is open to any production motorcycle complying with regulations, including Baggers, rather than focusing on top speeds. This approach draws diverse riders and broadens participation. He portrayed the occasion as a blend of festivity and sport, aimed at promoting responsible motorcycling, igniting enthusiasm for the sport, and prioritizing safety.
Bet Rossell, Massana councilor for promotion and sports, joined Moliné and Xaus at the launch event. She described Arinsal's rise as a gathering spot for outdoor sports fans across disciplines, benefiting local commerce and establishing the village as a dedicated sports hub.
Race regulations and registration details are posted on the FAM website. Note that some reports refer to the event as Road Rally & Baggers, though FAM materials confirm the Road Race & Baggers branding.
