The parish of Encamp held the first edition of its Sports Gala on Thursday evening at the function hall of the Encamp Sports and Sociocultural Complex. The event, organised to recognise the effort and commitment of local clubs, athletes and coaches, was attended by municipal authorities, representatives of sports organisations and relatives of the honorees.

Lifetime achievement awards were presented to Daniel Múgica, the long‑time coach of Club Natació Encamp, and to Igor Esteve, a basketball referee with experience in the ACB and international competitions.

Olympian Nahuel Carabaña and judoka Lia Povedano were named the parish’s athletes of the year. Sideco FC Encamp was honoured as best club and also saw its coach, Alex Carvalho, receive the award for best coach, giving the club a double recognition.

Other distinctions included Maria Ubiergo and Frank Porté as best promising athletes, the Travessa del Pas de la Casa as the season’s standout event for sporting merit, and Jordi Jou, who received the award for the “Encamp spirit.” Around a dozen clubs and individuals were recognised across the various categories.

Joan Plaza, head coach of MoraBanc Andorra, acted as guest of honour and addressed attendees on the values of sport. Laura Mas, the cònsol major, said the gala seeks to acknowledge the effort and commitment that form part of the parish’s sporting life.
