The Joan Alay Pavilion hosted the FAVB’s Intercollegiate Tournament this morning, bringing together around 200 secondary school students in an event aimed at promoting volleyball and reinforcing teamwork and cooperation.
About twenty teams — male and female — from the ten schools in the principality competed. Lluís Hillaire, head of the Andorran Volleyball Federation and tournament coordinator, said the initiative is intended to support the national teams and local clubs and expressed satisfaction with the turnout.
In the boys’ category, Escola de Santa Coloma won a closely contested final against Sant Ermengol, 18–16, with Lycée finishing third. In the girls’ category, Maria Moliner beat Encamp 15–9 in the final, while Sant Ermengol took third place.
The tournament, organised by the FAVB in collaboration with the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), also provided participating schools with sports equipment valued at more than €3,000 to support volleyball practice.
