FC Andorra coach Carles Manso confirmed on Friday that loanee Antal Yaakobishvili's spell from Girona will end in the coming days, freeing up squad space as the club remains open to further winter market moves amid its Segunda División relegation fight.
Ahead of Sunday's 2pm away game at Mirandés—kicking off the second half of the season—Manso said details are being finalised for Antal's departure, with the player absent from the recent Copa Catalunya squad. He wished him success without naming a destination, though media reports suggest Tenerife. The technical team plans to stay "very surgical" in targeting improvements, according to Manso.
He praised new loanees Edgar González, 28, from Almería (contracted to 2028), and Yeray Cabanzón, 22, from league-leading Racing Santander, both until June. Presented Thursday before Encamp's Santa Eulàlia church tower, the versatile arrivals bolster depth.
The 1.92m González, from Sallent and son of ex-Espanyol and Lleida striker Lluís González, brings experience from Real Betis and Almería, plus a stint at Hajduk Split. Recovering from adductor discomfort, he began light group training this week but is ruled out for Mirandés and likely unavailable for the squad. He could debut the following week at home against Huesca. González highlighted the possession-oriented style as a key draw, saying it matches his career from youth ranks and allows him to feature as centre-back or pivot. "It's one of the main reasons I decided to come," he noted, eager to return to Spanish football near home.
Cabanzón, at 1.70m, impressed on Wednesday in Copa Catalunya against CE Europa, scoring as winger or midfielder and earning a start Sunday at Anduva. The Cantabrian credited long-standing club interest—including last summer after promotion—and the playing style. "My debut was perfect—I'm very happy to start with a goal, felt comfortable with the welcome," he said, ready to play any role assigned.
Manso lauded González's aerial prowess and set-piece value, plus Cabanzón's attacking quality, continuity, and finishing threat. He dismissed Mirandés' home return, 17th-place standing, and new coach Antxon Muneta as concerns, emphasising confidence in the team's training and merit-based approach. The short week, aided by the midweek cup tie, gave minutes to fringe players. Jastin García has resumed full training after ankle trouble and could travel if cleared Saturday in Zaragoza. Manso stressed the added stakes of the second round for potential tiebreakers: "From now on, we have a bit more to gain each weekend to climb as high as possible."
