Key Points

  • Route expanded from 9 to 11 stages, halving daily distances to ~90-100km for less fatigue.
  • Limited to 18 riders with support vehicle; nearly 10 spots taken since Jan 6.
  • Runs July 18-29; repeat participants including third-timers.
  • Entry fees partly fund Cooperand NGO's South American education projects.

Toni Domínguez, a travel organizer and sports coach behind Viatges Emocions, has launched the fourth edition of his cycling challenge from Andorra to Santiago de Compostela. The event follows segments of the Camino de Santiago routes and now spans 11 stages over a total of 1,295 kilometres.

Organizers expanded the route from nine to 11 stages to make it less demanding, allowing participants to enjoy destinations and recover more fully each day. "We reduced stages that previously reached 180 or 200 kilometres to roughly half that length," Domínguez explained. Past editions saw delays from punctures, mechanical issues, meals, or coffee stops, sometimes pushing arrivals into late afternoon.

The group format remains central, capped at 18 riders for safety and logistics, including a support vehicle for luggage and bikes. Registrations opened on January 6, with nearly 10 spots filled—several by repeat participants, including some on their third outing. The challenge runs from July 18 to 29.

As in previous years, it includes a charitable element: part of the entry fee supports Cooperand, an NGO focused on educational projects in South America, such as building schools and aiding children.

Domínguez noted growing interest among cyclists seeking unique adventures. "People are starting to ride bikes and want to do something different," he said, describing the journey across half the Iberian Peninsula to the Obradoiro Square.
