  • Canillo parish council's ski program for kids and adults launched successfully with 92 young participants, up from 74 last year, boosted by subsidies and new family features.

The second edition of Lúdic Canillo, a ski school run by Canillo parish council, launched successfully over the weekend with a 32.4% rise in participation compared to its debut last year.

A total of 92 children and young people signed up, up from 74 in 2025, alongside six adults in a new category. On Saturday, 30 children took part, while Sunday saw 73 children plus the adult group. The programme offers alpine skiing and snowboarding sessions on Saturday and/or Sunday, tailored by age.

Children aged 3 to 6 have a Sunday-only option, attracting 38 participants. Those aged 7 to 16 can choose Saturday (19 participants), Sunday (24), or both days (11). The adult group skis on Sundays.

Canillo council subsidises costs by 60% for one-day sessions and 40% for two days. Sponsorship comes from Creand and Grandvalira, with support from local sports shops.

Councillor for Childhood, Youth and Sports Laura Riba said the growth shows the project's consolidation and strong family support. She noted it eases access to winter sports from early ages, promotes healthy habits and aids family work-life balance. The council remains committed to expanding and refining the initiative to meet local needs.

New features this year include monthly family activities like the Solidary Fun Route and Night Out, a beginners' group for parents, sessions for three-year-olds, more flexible timings for 7- to 16-year-olds, and a Lúdic Campus during the first week of Easter school holidays.
