Santa Coloma routs; Inter Escaldes narrow win tightens title race

Inter Escaldes moved up the table with a 1-0 win at Ranger’s, courtesy of Alex Aizpuru “Kaxe”’s 20th-minute strike. The match, played on a frozen pitch at Borda Mateu, was tight throughout but the visitors held on in the second half to secure a valuable victory. Inter sit second on 22 points with two games in hand and can claim first place if they win both remaining fixtures.

UE Santa Coloma consolidated their lead with a 7-0 thrashing of bottom club CF Esperança. The goals included a brace from Borja Arellano and strikes from David Martín, Fran Palma, Eric De Pablos and Adrián Amorós, with a penalty also converted during the match. The win left Santa Coloma top on 26 points.

FC Santa Coloma matched that result, also beating CE Carroi 7-0. Chus Rubio opened the scoring and Sascha Andreu added a first-half brace; Guillaume López struck twice later on, with Andy Villar and Mario Mourelo completing the rout.

Atlètic Escaldes closed the weekend with a 2-0 win over Penya Encarnada at Baixada del Molí. Domi Berlanga scored in the first half and Rodrigo Piloto added a late second, moving Atlètic level on 20 points with Ranger’s.

Off the pitch, Ordino’s scheduled match against the excluded Pas de la Casa was suspended and the club faced a payroll dispute, with unpaid wages of several months reported. After the dismissal of coach Álex Serrano, sporting director Antonio Rueda temporarily took charge while the club worked to resolve the situation.

In the current table, Santa Coloma lead with 26 points, Inter are second with 22 (two games in hand), Ranger’s and Atlètic Escaldes sit on 20, and FC Santa Coloma sit two points behind. Esperança remain bottom with two points.
