Lycée Director Apologizes for Players' Misconduct in Suspended Teen Basketball Game

A basketball match between teenage teams from Àgora School in Aldosa, La Massana, and Lycée has prompted an official apology from Lycée's director, who called the misconduct by some of his players "inadmissible" and pledged disciplinary action against those involved.

The Copa Col·legial game, featuring players aged around 16 to 18 from upper secondary and bachillerat levels, was suspended in the third quarter on Thursday after older Lycée players directed severe insults at the referee and threw objects at the scorers' table and officials. The referee and organizers halted play for safety reasons. Younger Lycée players reportedly felt embarrassed by their teammates' actions.

After the suspension, some Lycée members approached the Àgora residence area, apparently seeking further confrontation. Police responded to the school, and their presence alone prevented escalation. No injuries occurred.

In a message to his counterpart at Àgora School, Lycée director Olivier Salvan expressed that the behavior did not reflect the center's values or the spirit of sport. He offered "sincere apologies," which Àgora accepted, and confirmed that three youths responsible for the main incidents against the referee had been identified. Salvan committed to "necessary measures" to prevent recurrence, noting that accompanying teachers were "devastated." He emphasized respect for opponents as essential for fair play and good coexistence.

Authorities have provided no updates on potential investigations or further disciplinary steps beyond the school's response. The incident underscores tensions in youth sports amid ongoing parish competitions.
