The 34th edition of the Trofeu Borrufa ski competition kicked off on Monday afternoon in Ordino with an opening ceremony in the main square, followed by a parade through the village featuring all delegations and around 250 young participants.
Heavy recent snowfalls at Ordino Arcalís have forced changes to the schedule. The station's thick snow cover and difficult road access prompted organizers to relocate Tuesday and Wednesday races to the Esparver piste in Grandvalira's El Tarter sector. This ensures proper track preparation and participant safety.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, events start at 10am with the U14 giant slalom, limited to one run, followed by the U16 slalom with both planned runs. The National Team Event, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at Canaro, has been cancelled.
Thursday's programme remains unchanged, with U14 and U16 super giant slalom races at Ordino Arcalís and a closing ceremony with prize-giving in Ordino's main square at 4.30pm.
The opening featured speeches from Ordino's Cònsol Major Maria del Mar Coma and Andorra's Secretary of State for Youth and Sports Alain Cabanes, who wished competitors success over the three-day event.
Results will be available daily on the Trofeu Borrufa website and the Andorran Ski Federation site, including live timing data for each skier after crossing the finish line.
