The N-145 road has reopened after a head-on collision between two Spanish-registered cars at kilometre 6.2 in Valls de Valira, which injured four people with minor wounds.
The crash occurred around 1pm on Friday, coinciding with heavy traffic into Andorra due to Spain's Labour Day holiday on May 1. The vehicles blocked the road completely in both directions, causing queues of up to seven kilometres heading north towards the Principat and around one to four kilometres southbound. Delays had already built up earlier in the day from the border near La Seu d'Urgell, with the Anserall stretch particularly slow amid visitor influxes for the long weekend.
Emergency responders, including two units from the Bombers de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Mossos d'Esquadra, Guardia Civil and the medical emergencies service (SEM), attended the scene. The SEM treated the four occupants from both cars for light injuries. Traffic was halted until around 2pm, when the Servei Català de Trànsit reported the road open, though vehicle removal and high volumes caused lingering hold-ups in both directions.
By about 4pm, circulation had returned to normal.
