Multiple Accidents Close Key Roads into Andorra Amid Labour Day Traffic Surge

Traffic disruptions into Andorra intensified on Saturday midday due to multiple accidents on key access roads, coinciding with heavy volumes linked to Spain's Labour Day holiday on 1 May.

A collision involving an overturned vehicle near the exit of Organyà closed the C-14 road in both directions. Emergency services and traffic units attended the scene to manage the incident and restore safe passage. Although an alternative route was initially set up, the road remained fully blocked as of the latest updates, further complicating northbound travel toward the Principat.

Separately, the N-145 has reopened following a head-on crash between two cars at kilometre 6.2 in Valls de Valira around 1.15pm to 1.21pm. The impact left vehicles blocking the carriageway, prompting a full closure in both directions and generating queues exceeding seven kilometres toward Andorra and about one kilometre in the opposite direction. Four people from the vehicles received treatment for minor injuries from the Servei d'Emergències Mèdiques, with support from firefighters, Mossos d'Esquadra, and Guardia Civil. Vehicle removal efforts continue, causing lingering delays amid the festive traffic surge.

These incidents compounded existing congestion at the Rio Runer border and along the N-145, including slow movement near Anserall and intermittent backups stretching 1.5km from La Seu d'Urgell. High visitor numbers over the holiday bridge have driven dense flows into the country.
