Andorran Vehicle Traffic Fines on Catalan Roads Drop 49% This Summer

Traffic fines issued to Andorran-registered vehicles on Catalan roads dropped by 49.2% this summer compared to the same period in 2025, according to figures from the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT).
The SCT recorded 211 sanction proceedings for vehicles with an Andorran address between June and August 2026, down from 415 the previous year. The decline occurred across all three months, with the sharpest fall in July.
In June 2026, authorities initiated 84 proceedings—a 34.9% reduction from 129 in June 2025. July saw just 48 cases, a 67.3% decrease from 147. August recorded 79 proceedings, 43.2% fewer than the 139 issued in 2025.
Speeding violations dominated, accounting for 135 cases in 2026—nearly two-thirds of the total—and marking a 58% drop from 322 the year prior.
Manoeuvre signalling infractions followed with 23 cases, a slight rise from 22 in 2025. General traffic rule breaches totalled 20, while alcohol- and drug-related offences fell 26.7% to 11 from 15. Additional violations included nine for seatbelts, helmets or other safety equipment; four for overtaking; and three linked to driver documentation.
The SCT provided the data to the Andorran News Agency (ANA), highlighting improved compliance among Andorran drivers on Catalan roads during the peak tourist period.
