Spain‑registered VW Tiguan crashes into display trailer in La Margineda; driver flees

Mechanics discovered a Spain‑registered Volkswagen Tiguan early one morning lodged against a trailer used as a display by a local car‑import company in La Margineda. The impact severely damaged the trailer; whoever was driving had left the scene.

The collision is believed to have occurred overnight at the junction leading into the Margineda residential area, near local schools and at the exit toward Spain from the so‑called “peanut roundabout.” Police officers had seen the scene by about 05:00, and by 08:00, when the trailer’s owner was notified, no one was in or near the vehicle. Authorities opened an inquiry.

The trailer’s owner activated services to identify and locate those responsible. Police later identified the vehicle’s registered owner as a company based in La Seu d’Urgell, and insurance information was exchanged so insurers are expected to cover the repair costs to the damaged trailer.

While those who found the scene suspected the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol, there is no confirmed evidence of intoxication in the police file. Investigations by the authorities remain ongoing.
