Andorra la Vella installs bollards at Prada Ramon pedestrian crossings
The town council has placed permanent bollards on Pere d’Urg and Joan Maragall to stop vehicles parking on crossings and improve pedestrian safety.
Key Points
- Bollards placed permanently at crossings on Pere d’Urg and Joan Maragall streets.
- Measure responds to frequent parking by delivery vans that blocked pedestrians.
- Posts currently have temporary tape; will be painted white and red for visibility.
- Delivery drivers expected to use designated parking points instead of stopping at crossings.
The Andorra la Vella town council has installed several bollards at two pedestrian crossings in the Prada Ramon area, on Pere d’Urg and Joan Maragall streets. The posts are in place permanently but still require finishing work and adaptation.
The measure aims to improve pedestrian safety after traffic officials observed that delivery vans and other vehicles were frequently parking at those crossings, obstructing people trying to cross in a neighbourhood with high pedestrian use and a significant commercial presence. The bollards prevent vehicles from stopping at the crossings.
Municipal sources said the move “will prevent them from stopping and will keep the passage free of vehicles, improving safety.” Delivery drivers are expected to use designated parking points instead.
The town council also said the bollards will be painted white and red to increase visibility; they currently display temporary tape because they arrived grey.
